The trust also receives support from Friends of Conservation (FOC), Olchoro Oirouwa Wildlife Association, and Japan Wildlife Center (JWC) of Japan. The Trust will continue to work with conservation organizations to conserve this areas tourism and eco-system.
Eco-system
Eco-system is the wild animals, and the environment that it lives in, and further includes human to coexist in the cycle of that environment. There are not many areas such as Kenya, where people live closely with nature without interfering with the wild animalfs ecology.
Carnivorous animals catch herbivorous animals, and herbivorous animals eat plants, and the Maasai burns off a field for grazing so that plants will sprout. It was not intended for animal conservation, however it is built into the natural cycle.
There are abundance of herbivorous animals in Koyaki Lemek Ranch, and as carnivores catch them, the balance of nature is kept. Unconsiously the Koiyaki Lemek Maasai members are helping the herbivorous animals by burning off fields for cattle grazing.
Future of the Ranch
Currently at Koiyaki Lemek Ranch, the creation of the ranch map is urgent and is underway. As it is a vast area of land, it is taking time, however is in progress. Fine and patient effort is needed and it is being done with the support of Japan Wildlife Center (JWC), using a GPS system.
Creation of a new brochure of Koiyaki Lemek Ranch is being planned as well. The map will be something to hand to the tourists and will include wild animals and plants, and reptiles which can be seen within the ranch, and also insects which may be overlooked.
